INTRODUCTION SONG
Listen to us,
We'll sing you a song.
And tell you a tale,
Then it won't be long...
Chorus:
'Till you can read it yourself,
for the very first time.
First readers are fun.
We know you'll do fine!
Listen to us,
this story is great!
Then you can read it too,
if you concentrate.
Chorus:
And you can read it yourself.
for the very first time.
First Readers are fun.
We know you'll do fine!
THE VAIN EMPEROR
There once was a very vain Emperor,
Who always wanted to look his best.
He wore fine suits of silk and fur
he even wore a golden vest!
He had fifty hats and hundred shoes
he wore coloured coats of green and pink,
yellow, red, purple, orange and blue,
and a silver cape lined with mink.
Chorus:
Oh make way for his majesty!
He's walking out again...
To show his subjects more new clothes
he really is so vain!
He's coming down the cobbled street
to music and fanfare.
We think he's a show-off but to tell him...
We don't dare!
You'd think all this would be enough
But the Emperor still wanted more.
Then he heard about a magic cloth
from two thieves who knocked on his door.
They said this clothe was not visible
to the stupid and the dim.
It made the Emperor very miserable
when he could not see anything!
Chorus:
Oh make way for his
majesty!
He's walking out again...
To show his subjects more new clothes
he really
is so vain!
He's coming down the cobbled street
to music and fanfare.
We think he's a show-off
but to tell him...
We don't dare!
